MONTHLY MEETINGS

SCWD meetings are held on the first Sunday of every month from September to May, 1:00–4:00 PM at the Verona Senior Center, 108 Paoli Street, Verona, WI (map). Meetings are free and NMRA membership is not required.

Meetings combine education and recognition through informational clinics and contests, with plenty of space to connect with fellow railroaders via in-meeting breaks and visits to the home layouts of local modelers. Those who cannot attend in person may attend via Zoom using links emailed to SCWD members prior to each meeting. The January meeting does not take place in lieu of the Model Railroad School (open to the public). February meetings also add final preparations for the Mad City Model Railroad Show to the agenda.

A typical meeting consists of:

• Recognition of visitors and opening announcements

• Clinic, demonstration, or video on railroading or model railroading

• Snack break and voting for monthly contests

• Second clinic, demonstration, or video

• Announcement of monthly contest winners

• Final announcements

• After 4:00 PM: Visit to one or two local home layouts. Transportation not provided.
