Model railroading allows hobbyists worldwide to combine technical expertise and precision with personal camaraderie; passion; and real-life, practical education. The South Central Wisconsin Division of the NMRA’s Midwest Region (SCWD) uses in-person events, educational clinics, contests, and more to help modelers enhance their craft, broaden their knowledge, and share their achievements with fellow hobbyists.
Monthly meetings are held on the first Sundays, September through May, from 1:00-4:00 pm. Educational clinics covering a variety of topics are presented, from model building, to layout construction, to the latest high-tech model train gear. Mad City Model Railroad Show. This spectacular event presented by the SCWD is held every February. Join thousands of rail fans and browse through more than 50 model railroad and historical exhibits and operating layouts. There are kid's activities and over 300 vendor tables selling model railroad items, clothing, books, railroad collectibles and more. Learn more »
Model Railroad School. This free event is held in January and open to the public where they can experience numerous clinics to learn many of the techniques needed to create a layout of their own. Kid's receive a freight car we help them build that is their's to keep. Learn more »

Annual Spring Banquet & Summer Picnic. We hold our annual awards and recognition banquet every spring. We celebrate our volunteers and award special member achievements.
