Congratulations to SCWD member, Dr. Bill Clancy. The NMRA Calendar editors selected a photo of his Rio Grande Pacific for the September 2023 calendar photo. It was selected out of 100 photos submitted by 30 NMRA members.
Photo caption: The foothills of the Rocky Mountains overlook downtown Denver, the Railway Express office, and Denver’s General Post Office. Nearby, the Union Pacific’s City of San Francisco and the Rio Grande’s Royal Gorge and California Zephyr await departures from Denver Union Station on the Rio Grande Pacific. In the foreground the yard crew and No. 1209, a Baldwin 0-6-0 built in 1915, continue the routine but important work needed to keep trains moving on the RGP.
