As announced in the October Bad Order and also at the September & October meetings, the modeling project for this year is “Building a Snow Diorama”. This year we are trying something that has never been used previously as part of an SCWD modeling project – the use of snow! Because snow is not typically a part of the scenery of most layouts built by SCWD members, or for that matter, by most NMRA members, we thought it might be fun and challenging to use it as the theme for this year’s modeling project.
Rules for the project are that you must be an NMRA member, must use “modeling or artificial snow” part of the scenery of a diorama that is no larger than 160 x 160 scale feet in size. The diorama does not have to include railroad track, although this is preferable. The diorama may include structures, vehicles, figures, other scenery items, etc. as you prefer. A $10 deposit is required when you receive your “artificial snow” container. The deposit will be refunded if you bring the finished diorama for entry into our popular vote contest at the April 2023 SCWD meeting. We will be offering 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes separately for the N and HO categories again this year.
Note, to those who have been virtually attending SCWD meeting, you can participate in this project as well. Simply contact Mike Vivion via email or phone to work out the details. Mike's contact information is in the SCWD Red Book.
